 COTTONWOOD SPRING

About the Book:

Cottonwood Spring, the fourth novel in the Cottonwood series, continues the tradition of delivering a richly-detailed remembrance of home-front America during the spring of 1945. The story is set during the months just before VE Day, the surrender of Germany.

To the joy of Cottonwood fans, the complete cast of odd-ball but lovable characters returns for a touching swan-song appearance. Once again Jase Addison, the now-adult narrator, reports on the zany behavior of his best friend and fellow amateur sleuth, Danny Tucker, whose antics are off the chart in this installment.

The young superheroes are confronted by another batch of dangerous villains. True to form, the bad guys are dispatched in record time by the wit, courage, and inventiveness of the clever stars of the Cottonwood series.

Gary Slaughter’s previous novels, Cottonwood Fall and Cottonwood Winter: A Christmas Story were named as finalist in four prestigious book awards for fiction writing. Based on early reviews, Cottonwood Spring is his best work ever. So readers are in for a special treat.

“Youngsters will keep reading the book out of interest in the antics of the young heroes Jase Addison and Danny Tucker (perhaps not realizing that they’re 'accidentally' learning a lot about 1944 United States in the process). Older folks will read through the feelings and nostalgia, as they recall their own wheres and whens during the war that Dwight Eisenhower called a ‘great and noble undertaking.’ Everyone in between will keep turning the pages because it’s just an interesting and well-written story.”
